Anak Krakatau’s 25-hour eruption ended, but the 3 km exclusion zone remains
Anak Krakatau’s roughly 25-hour continuous eruption ended at 00:04 local time on September 6, but Indonesia kept the volcano at Level III and barred activity within 3 kilometres of the centre. An end to continuous eruption does not mean volcanic unrest has ended.
Monitoring on September 6–7 still recorded three eruption earthquakes, 93 low-frequency events and 98 hybrid events. AP independently reported continuing airport closures and remote schooling in ash-affected areas.
