Five Córdoba courtyards become floral art spaces for six days
FLORA 2026 is opening floral installations in five historic courtyards in Córdoba, Spain, from October 16 through 21.
Those are the completed-work exhibition dates, not the entire festival period or a promise that every associated activity is free and requires no booking.
Why put short-lived flowers in lasting architecture?
The ninth edition’s theme is Ephemeral. Flowers and plants with limited lifetimes are placed within enduring architecture, bringing those different timescales into view. These are installations developed for their settings, rather than the same decoration placed in any available courtyard. A local radio broadcast from the sites on October 15 independently explored the work of artists, photographers and production assistants.
Why six viewing days within a longer festival?
The overall festival runs October 12–22. October 12–15 covers installation work and activities; October 16–21 covers the completed installations; October 22 is Guerrilla FLORA. Counting both endpoints gives six exhibition days. Official opening hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time. Checking only the festival’s starting date could mean arriving during construction rather than the finished exhibition.

Which places and participants are involved?
The courtyards belong to Córdoba’s Provincial Council, the Mosque-Cathedral, the Archaeological Museum, Palacio de Orive and Palacio de Viana. The participants are FLOVER NYC, Hamish Powell, Mas Rasa, Sohee Park and Taller Banegas. This is a multi-site event, so a ticket to one building should not be assumed to cover all activities. Access to the floral installation also needs to be distinguished from access to other parts of each institution.
Does free access mean no preparation?
The organiser describes access as free except where otherwise indicated, while explicitly requiring prior registration for some activities. Ramps and purpose-built inclined platforms support visitors with reduced mobility; access can be individual or in small groups depending on space and the installation. These materials cannot guarantee queues or remaining places. Checking the official programme for the date, courtyard and registration requirement helps avoid arriving during the wrong phase or missing a separate activity.
