2652 autographed copies, a Polish reader changed the world record

Global briefing
Briefings by language

Poland’s Violeta Sadowska has collected 2,652 signed books, setting the record for the world’s largest collection. This number does not represent the total number of books in your home, but rather counts only those for which the author’s signature has been verified.

This does not mean that all 2652 books are by the same author or that all signatures were obtained in the same way. The record base date is March 25, 2026, after which collection numbers may continue to change.

What and how many books did you collect?

Guinness World Records announced that Sadowska’s confirmed collection of autographed books in Szopiłowka, Poland, is 2,652 volumes. Booklips, a Polish book media outlet, also reported the same figures and a reference date of March 25, 2026. This record relates to the total number of autographs, not a ranking of rarity or price.

How much more than the previous record?

Booklips reports that the previous holder was Richard Warren of the United States, with 2,381 volumes. Sadovska’s 2652 volumes are 271 more than that. However, it is not a result of comparing the value or cultural significance of different collections. Records are comparisons of quantities in defined categories.

How do you check if the signature is real?

Booklips said that in order to apply for records, it collected photos of the cover and autograph of each book, a video showing the autograph, and confirmation from the publisher or author, and also required three expert witnesses. Sadovska’s personal introduction page also reveals that the record will be set in 2026. In other words, this is not just a case of counting numbers, but also requires data to support the authenticity of each autograph.

A library with 10,000 volumes and a record of 2,652 volumes are different.

According to Booklips, Sadovska’s home library contains more than 10,000 books. However, only 2,652 volumes with a confirmed cause of death have entered the world record. So you shouldn’t look at the title and understand that all books are autographs or that 2652 volumes is the largest of all home libraries.

Why readers should care

Autographing a single copy may seem like a common hobby, but thousands of copies require provenance and verification procedures to be recognized as records. This case shows that collecting books goes beyond simple storage and can lead to author events, publishers, and communities of readers. However, the release of a record does not guarantee the sustainability of a collection or the price of an autographed copy on the market.
