A separate study found that the composition was closer to satellites created around Neptune than to captured Kuiper Belt objects. It is possible that it was pushed into outer orbit during Triton&#8217;s invasion and became the only intact original satellite.<\/p>\n<h2>What is still unclear?<\/h2>\n<p>There are large errors in the density and spectral data of the satellite&#8217;s surface, and the only probe that has seen Neptune up close was Voyager 2 in 1989. Different initial satellite numbers and Triton capture paths could produce similar results.
