    Was there no human help?<\/h2>\n

    Human handlers watched for a suitable wave and launched the board. The dog then balanced and rode toward the beach.<\/p>\n

    It would be wrong to describe this as dogs finding waves with no help. But balance, posture and the ride after launch were genuinely judged.<\/p>\n

    The safety rules are quite specific<\/h2>\n

    Dogs had to wear life jackets or safety vests, and boards had to be made of foam or foam and fiberglass. Humans entering the water also needed a life jacket, vest or rash guard.<\/p>\n
