Bucharest laid out a 5.055-km recycled table
A recycled-material communal table stretching 5,055 metres through central Bucharest was certified as a Guinness World Record on 12 September 2026. The gathering also raised support for a new paediatric psychiatry facility.
The certified category concerns table length. Roughly 20,000 attendees and projected hospital use are organiser or foundation figures, not additional records or completed outcomes.
How much longer
The same group’s 2025 record was 2,782.968 metres. The new table was over 2,272 metres longer, about 1.82 times the previous mark.
Certification
A Guinness adjudicator presented a certificate on site. AP and local reports independently matched the category and 5,055-metre measurement; the public Guinness page still showed the older mark when checked.
Hospital link
Funds support a planned 3,900-square-metre, 67-bed clinic at Obregia Hospital, estimated at €16.5 million. Cost, funding and completion dates may change.
Limits
The final attendance and money raised have not yet appeared in an independently audited account. “First” refers to the organiser’s description of a new dedicated modern facility, not an absence of existing wards.
